Hope of the Pokomchi January 2018 Update

We begin this year with a lot to give thanks for! The work with Rosario Italia (pictured below) continues! The rest of 35 families will receive cook stoves and water filters, thanks to very kind donations! Installations will occur later this year. In case you missed it in the video, the retaining wall at Shekinah Center is completely finished! A dream realized! Our next goal is further equipping there. Our greatest need is funds for the purchase of 6 bunks beds ($400 US each) and 12 mattresses ($90 US each). Having more beds (pictured bottom middle) will allow the center to function at full capacity and affect more lives. We would be able to host the 25 Pastors who would be attending the Diploma in Theology Program, and more! We prayerfully wait and trust God to work in this.

Having teams visit is a huge blessing to Pokomchi families and ASOSAP staff! The relationships that are built are unforgettable. It is a gift to live life with God’s family from around the world and see how God moves. If you speak with previous teams, you’d hear testimony of the impact that the people of Guatemala have had on their lives and how God revealed Himself to them! Teams partner with the Pokomchi in the provision of water tank and latrines, with families covering a percentage and the team the rest. This year we are continuing to work with families from Mexabaj (pictured top row; with a before and after of a latrine), Cerro Verde (pictured middle row; with a new water tank, eliminating the need to walk hours to collect jars of water), and Panhux (pictured middle, bottom row). Would you like to come on a team? We have spaces available and would love to have you come! Can’t come in person, but still want to partner with us? We need funds for water tanks ($715.50 each) and latrines ($461 each). God’s love and care is demonstrated through these projects and you can be a part of that! If God is laying this on your heart, invite your friends and family to join with you!

Building My Horizon news! We are very grateful to those who are sponsoring children, currently 36 children have been sponsored! We have 4 more children needing sponsors. If you would like to sponsor a child, the cost is $50/month or $300/one time. We also are in need of 4 gently used laptops for the computer education that the children will receive. Please contact us if you are able to assist in any of those two areas! We also ask you to join with us in prayer over the program… for the ASOSAP staff involved, the parents of the children, and the new and continuing children who will be attending the program. Pictured left are two new participants! We pray that the children will encounter God at Building My Horizon! Thank you for your continued partnership! Let’s see what God has in store for 2018!
